15 February 2020: Monitoring bats at Llanberis, Wales.

SSWC has, along with Bell Access and Engineering, for several years coordinated a programme of bat survey and monitoring for a proposed hydroelectric scheme in north Wales. During the winter of 2020 we use rope access techniques to deploy bat detectors and record over 40 nights of bat calls and count four species of bats.

The Cruachan Power Station, also known as the Cruachan Dam, was opened by Queen Elizabeth II on 15 October 1965. The pumped-storage hydroelectric power station in Argyll and Bute, provides 440 MW of power and has a capacity of 7.1 GWh.
